It has been another wonderful summer of rest and relaxation. Spending time up in the York Beach, Maine area, I am always inspired especially after from my time there and hope you all had a chance to enjoy what summertime vacation has to offer.
One of my goals this year is to work more closely with my elementary (K-4) art teacher team members. During the school year we will generate meeting times and agendas in order to collaboratively discuss topic of relevance to the arts discipline. Topics will include curriculum, assessment and artistic skill development.
Our visual arts professional learning team will explore prompts and ideas that stem from the book “Sparking Creativity”. At our first meeting, each member will contribute one prompt for a new pice of visual art that has the potential to be collaborative. The PLT will then discuss all of these ideas and choose one to work on. We will explore this process for implementation in our curriculum.
I would like to use grades K-4 student artwork as a source of inspiration to create my personal works of art with various mediums. My initial work would originate from a few of the student’s art pieces. Ideally I would like to select one student’s work from each grade level. Let’s see what happens. Also, the results of this experience will be incorporated into a handmade oversized book for viewing/sharing. We could also include other PLT member’s works/photos in the book as well!!
